ROUGH SILK DESIGN is a solo interior design practice based in northwest Sydney offering professional services to the Sydney metro area.

It is the dedicated creation of interior designer Michelle Mathieson who works closely with her clients to understand their individual wants and needs in order to deliver beautiful, purposeful spaces that change their lives for the better.

BA (Hons) Interior Design
With a degree in Interior Design and over 12 years commercial interior design experience, working in both the UK and Australia, Michelle Mathieson was well equipped to embark on her RSd journey in 2015. She is well-practised in the principles of good design and has honed her eye for colour, detail, scale, proportion and balance.

She is passionate about thoughtful spatial design and would welcome the opportunity to guide you through your residential interior make-over.

RSd is passionate about the creation of good quality living spaces and highly conscious of the crucial need to conserve the wider natural environment and protect the global living conditions of future generations. Michelle advocates sustainable practices within the design and construction industry. She endeavours to change misconceptions and offer her clients solutions and product choices that are both stylish and eco-friendly.

The right home accessories can easily take an interior from uninspiring to uplifting. RSd produce and sell a selection of contemporary cushion covers that will quickly inject bold, stylish accents to any space and give it a modern vibe.
These exclusive cushions are lovingly designed and hand-printed in the RSd studio and then constructed in West Pennant Hills. A local product with a human touch offering a little piece of 'something different'.

Inspired by very ordinary moments in the built and natural environment, Michelle's textiles celebrate the often overlooked charm and elegance of everyday textures, patterns and compositions. The way a shadow falls across a stairwell, the structure of a wire fence, peeling paint, the grain of a timber paling. RSd products accentuate the beauty in the ordinary; and they make everyday, ordinary life more beautiful.
